City of Savannah Mobility and Parking Director Sean Brandon has a guest post at the Creative Coast blog this morning, which makes important points about poverty, employment, planning and creative communities:
“I have found repeatedly that the person that takes their bicycle on an inhospitable street is trying to do the very thing that many complain those in poverty don’t do: get to and from their job.”

Commercial roof upkeep and repair is vital when it comes to the longevity of your building and its roof. Picking a contractor is very substantial part of this process. When a roof gets repaired improperly it can lead to many problems and out of pocket spending. The quality of roof on a structure is very vital to the integrity of the whole building. Thankfully, there is a resource building owners can employ to help them with miami commercial roofing project issues – an independent roofing consultant.
Miami Consultants.
It is crucial to comprehend how roof consultants differ from regular architects and engineers. Roofing consultants have specialized knowledge and experience in roofing issues that architects and engineers may not possess. Since they do not have any affiliation with any individual roofing manufacturer, most roofing consultants are unbiased, third-party resources. Also, respected roofing consultants will have a thorough understanding of many unique types of roofing options.
Designs For Roofs.
Commercial roofing consultants are capable of conceptualizing custom roof plans and specifications specifically for your building. Compared to the cost of the roof, this design costs a relatively small amount, but a good roof design can have a serious impact on the overall durability of the roofing system. Roofing consultants do much more than design roofing systems, however. One significant job a consultant performs is determining if a roof requires replacement or can be salvaged through repairs.
Quality Consultancy.
Another unlimited service prearranged by commercial roofing consultants is quality control assurance during the installation process. They will have someone on the roof during every phase of the installation process to make sure proper specifications are being followed. Once the work is finished, the roofing consultant will come up with a roof maintenance program and do annual inspections to make sure it stays in perfect working condition.
Roof Management Plans.
Some roofing consultants offer roof asset management programs. These individual programs, which are normally computer based, can help building owners manage all the pertinent information of their roofing assets. Users can view when maintenance is due to occur, maintain their roofing files, store file photos of the roof, and watch for possible roofing improvements. Since a roof is a large expense it is wise to make sure the asset is being properly managed.
Since there are not any limitations on who can call themselves roofing consultants, owners should be watchful when they select a commercial roofing Miami company. Inquire about the company’s previous projects and why you should consider hire them. Customer references are very important when selecting a roofing company as well. Consider finding examples of their previous roofing work. A final aspect to consider is whether the consultant is a member of the Roofing Consultants Institute (RCI). This group is an international, non-profit organization in North Carolina that does quality checks on all commercial roofing companies. Having a quality roofing consultant by your side will help your roofing miami fl project go smoothly from beginning to end.

I’ve just received an email from a GA GOP Committee Member as well as a tweet from Erick Erickson indicating that Mitt Romney has decided to skip a debate co-hosted by the Georgia GOP and Ohio GOP on March 1st. The email attributes this info to an email the Romney campaign sent to CNN this morning.
Speculate below what the Romney snub of Georgia/Ohio/CNN means below:

Alcoholism can take hold of many facets of your life, such as your career, your relationships and your money. An inability to get your drinking under control may mean you need outside help. Consider the ways alcohol substance abuse rehabilitation may help you as you look for ways to stop abusing alcohol.
Diagnosing Alcoholism
If you drink heavily, one thing that may be blocking you from sobriety is the fear of withdrawal. Most rehab centers offer a controlled setting where you can wean yourself from alcohol, and in some cases, receive additional medication to ease the transition. This support can help you to avoid an extreme reaction as the alcohol leaves your body.
Personal Issues
After the symptoms of withdrawal have been resolved, you can begin to look at the issues that are fueling excessive drinking habits in your life. This phase of treatment typically includes a review of things that could be triggering your addiction and cravings for alcohol and to see what patterns come to light. It can be easier for you to detect and isolate these issues once the drinking is eliminated, as you begin your journey of rehabilitation.
Types Of Care
Therapy to treat alcoholism can be in-patient or out-patient, depending on the severity of the case. In-patient at a treatment center or medical facility may be required if there are additional medical issues at hand. Out-patient rehabilitation can be an option that allows a person to continue to live at home while coming to a center for therapy. Either treatment can begin the process of therapy and counseling with others that is necessary to quit drinking.
Group Discussions
You may participate in group therapy as part of your rehabilitation process. The focus groups may consist of alcoholics, or there may be a blend of people with various addictions seeking help, just like you. You may find similarities in other people’s stories as you go along. Listening to other people’s stories of addiction and recovery can help you discover more about your own issues with addiction.
Individual Counseling
You may have the opportunity to take part in individual therapy sessions with specialists. These counseling sessions can involve just you, or you may be asked to invite members of your family to join in the conversation. These discussions can offer a focused session on your particular issues, and may help as you begin to repair family relations as part of your rehabilitation.
Making Changes
Through the support of others, you may begin to learn ways to avoid drinking and begin to find other ways to cope with life’s struggles. Your therapy may include journaling, for example, which can spotlight possible patterns in your life that lead to bouts of binge drinking. From this, you could begin to learn about ways to change aspects of your life that will make alcohol abuse a thing of the past. Find a inpatient rehabilitation clinic.

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is joining Mitt Romney in the t.v. advertising campaign to win Georgia’s 76 Republican National Convention delegates.
Politico reports that Georgia is one of five states the Santorum campaign will begin airing ads in on Monday.
Rick Santorum’s campaign is going up with ads in five more states later this week and early next week, Santorum top strategist John Brabender said today.
The campaign will run ads in Arizona, Georgia, Ohio and Tennessee by the end of this week and in Oklahoma starting Monday, per Brabender, in addition to the ads already going on the air in Michigan.

To paraphrase Lando Calrissian, we’re sure in the middle of it now.

Representative Matt Ramsey, (R-Peachtree City), is drawing up legislation that will hurt more small businesses in Georgia than he is intending to help. According to an article in the AJC, Ramsey is going to sponsor the Georgia affiliate nexus tax law. This will allow the state to collect tax from out of state online merchants that use affiliate marketing.
This is what I do for a living. This is my fight.
Rep. Ramsey says he is trying to help brick and mortar shops in Fayette County that complain online sales are hurting their business because customers are “shopping” their stores and buying online. Welcome to the new economy! If you don’t adapt, you fail. Unless the government bails you out. It’s just hard for me to understand why Republicans like Rep. Ramsey and Gov. Nathan Deal would be duped by lobbyists and state revenue employees that this idea would work. It has failed miserably in every other state and I’ve watched my friends struggle as a result.
The main issue is that companies like Home Depot are crying foul because Amazon does not have a physical location in Georgia and does not have to pay sales tax for online transactions. They have come up with an unconstitutional scheme that says I (an affiliate) am a nexus between Amazon and the state of Georgia. So any sales that happen through my affiliates links are taxable by the state. I am not a nexus. I’m a small business owner that makes some extra spending cash promoting products on my website. I use that spending cash at local businesses in the metro Atlanta area. Read my story on the Marketing Gorilla Blog to get a better understanding of how this will affect me and my family.
Online merchants do not want to create ecommerce solutions that fit the needs of 50 different states. The best we can hope for is a federal tax on Internet sales, but even then it seems unfair to many online entrepreneurs.
There are 6,000 affiliates in Georgia. If/when this law passes, online merchants like Amazon will immediate terminate their relationship with affiliates to avoid the alleged nexus. Therefore, any net gain Rep. Ramsey or the governor expect in uncollected taxes will disappear. But, because the large merchants will stop working with affiliates, state income taxes will decrease and affiliates will suffer. I’m encouraging all affiliates to share their story so that the real casualties of this idea will be exposed.
Contact Rep. Ramsey, your House Rep and your State Senator and let them know this plan will not level the playing field, only federal legislation will come closer to addressing the issue.
