Illegal Immigrant Registers and Votes in Athens-Clarke County

The Athens Banner-Herald reports a local resident, who has been living in the United States illegally for years, may be deported after lying about his citizenship.

Athens businessman Hesham Gad obtained a state driver’s license, attended the University of Georgia, and has been a registered voter while pretending to be a U.S. citizen, a prosecutor said Wednesday in Clarke County Superior Court.

Those are among the reasons the 33-year-old should be deported to Egypt, despite having lived nearly all his life in Athens, argued Western Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney David Lock.

“He’s here illegally,” Lock told Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard.

Johnson, Joe (2012-1-26). Athens man facing deportation lied about U.S. citizenship. Athens Banner-Herald. Retrieved on 2012-1-27.

Hesham Gad’s voting record shows that not only is he registered to vote, Gad actually did vote in the 2004 General Election.

This is so important, it bears repeating again. A non-U.S. citizen, Hesham Gad, registered and voted in an American election.

Yet, some Georgia legislators want to make it easier for this kind of fraud to occur by allowing same-day voter registration.

What the hell are these Georgia legislators thinking?

Easy Passport Renewals And Other Services

The U S online passport renewals are simple most of the time. Most can be done by mail but you will not be required to appear in person. There are, however, some conditions that must be fulfilled if done by mail.

Conditions

There are a few conditions to be met if you want to mail your request. You must be able to submit your current passport with your application and it must be undamaged. It is also required that you obtained it within the past fifteen years, and you were at least sixteen years old at the time. If you have had a name change, submit the proof with your application.

Form DS-82

If all qualifications mentioned above are met and you are able to use the accompanying form by mail, you will receive the new passport using this convenient method. Even if you have never had a passport before, you can still get one without a personal appearance in some situations.

Expedited Service

If you are in a hurry and need an expedited copy, you can get it in two or three weeks. If you are leaving soon and need a foreign visa in four weeks, you will need to consider expediting your request. You will have to pay a higher fee and be sure to mark the front of the envelope with “expedite” to insure these instructions are followed. Be sure to count the overnight shipping fees both ways.

Appearance Required

If you need your visa in less than four weeks or are leaving on your trip in less that fourteen days, you will have to make a personal application and pay a higher charge to get it. You should be sure to have all documentation at the beginning for this service and must go to a passport office to apply.

Name Change

If your name legally changes, you will need to change it officially on your document. You are required to send a copy of the court order or marriage license, whichever is needed. You will also need your original passport to send with the original or certified document proving the name change. Include the appropriate application form and a color picture. You do not have to pay a fee for this. The same thing goes for a kids pass port fast.

Errors

If you have errors that need to be corrected, you can do this any time. Using the correct form, you do not need to pay a fee. These errors are things like typos and date of birth. Just send the form and get the error fixed for free.

Mailing

There are a number of circumstances in which you may need to make corrections or additions. Because all documents must be in an undamaged condition, it is advised to send them in an envelope large enough to prevent folding and to use a strong envelope for greater protection.

Drug Detox – Selecting A Technique

Deciding on a method of drug detoxification is dependent on whether an individual wants to completely clear their system of addictive substances and change their life completely or if they simply want to pass a drug test at work or elsewhere. The first involves rehabilitation while the second may involve biochemistry. Israeli doctors at the end of the twentieth century developed a method of rapid opiate detox. The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has gradually tweaked this over the years to use safer medications that have been approved.

Rapid Detox

Withdrawal from a medication in the absence of supportive intervention can last for several days. The symptoms can be very unpleasant and painful, to the point that this puts people off going ‘clean’. Rapid detox, which involves placing the patient under anesthesia so they don’t feel the severe pain and other symptoms, is reputed to affect complete clearance in as little as two hours. This is expensive and the safety of this approach remains to be proven. It is also a very extreme way of passing a laboratory test.

Reasons For Testing

A person may be asked to submit to a laboratory drug test for any one of a number of reasons. Insurance companies sometimes ask for them before issuing a life insurance policy. Students, probationers and parolees may all be asked to provide a sample for testing from time to time. Athletes in competitive sports are often required to take urine tests. Many employers require them prior to making an appointment or a promotion. There is only one sure way to be sure of passing one of these tests and that is to abstain completely, at least for the duration of its detection time.

Clearance Time

The necessary period of abstinence depends on the average clearance time of the molecule in question. Some substances, such as amphetamines, short-acting barbiturates, cocaine and opiates, for example, can clear the system in less than a week. Others like benzodiazepines (valium) or LSD can take up to ten days. Some substances, like cannabinoids (marijuana), phenobarbital and steroids may take anywhere from two or three weeks to a matter of months. These times are based on urine analysis.

Detox Drinks

There is a substantial market for personal drug tests so that casual drug users may monitor their levels. For those facing an impending drug test, it is possible to buy special ‘detox drinks’ over the Internet that act long enough to get through a test successfully. These may also be bought over the telephone or at special retailers.

Total Rehabilitation

Passing a drug test may be sufficient for casual drug users who want to remain employed and out of jail. For people with a giant monkey on their back who want a complete lifestyle change, an extended program of detoxification and rehabilitation is necessary. This approach needs to incorporate psychological, social and behavioral issues.

Residential Treatment

Residential crack cocaine addiction rehabilitation programs are helpful because they isolate the patient from the social and environmental situations that trigger their drug using behaviors. They give residents a chance to develop confidence in establishing relationships with peers who do not use drugs. When the individual is released back into the community, a winning regime will offer treatment to follow up and keep the individual from relapsing into old, destructive habits.

Secretary of State Kemp Reminds Voters about the Start of Absentee Voting and Important Dates for Presidential Preference Primary

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp reminded voters today that absentee voting by mail for the March 6, 2012 presidential preference primary will begin Saturday, January 21, 2012. Voters can request an absentee ballot through Friday, March 2, 2012.

Georgia residents must return their absentee ballot to their county election office by close of polls on Election Day, March 6, 2012. Absentee ballots cast by overseas and military voters must be postmarked on or before March 6, 2012, but will be accepted until the end of business on March 9, 2012. Voters are not required to provide a reason when requesting an absentee ballot.

Voters can obtain an absentee ballot request form from the Secretary of State’s website: sos.ga.gov. The form must be completed and returned to the voter’s county election office. County election office personnel can also provide absentee ballot request forms.

Citizens who are eligible to vote but have not registered may register through Monday, February 6, 2012. Voter registration forms are available on the Secretary of State’s website.

In-person advance voting for the 2012 presidential preference primary will begin Monday, February 13, 2012.

Secretary Kemp reminded voters to utilize the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page (MVP) voter education website before participating in the presidential preference primary. The MVP website allows voters to view their sample ballot, find the in-person advance voting locations in their county and their Election Day polling location, check their registration status, track the status of their absentee ballot, and more. The MVP website can be accessed at sos.ga.gov/mvp.

Additionally, Georgia’s eligible military and overseas citizens who have requested an absentee ballot can obtain their ballot electronically for the presidential preference primary beginning January 21, 2012.

The Secretary of State’s Office has created two tutorial videos that specifically address absentee ballot voting options for Georgia’s military and overseas citizens. To view these videos please visit the Secretary of State’s website.

To obtain a presidential primary ballot electronically, Georgia’s military and overseas citizens must request an absentee ballot from their county election office, be sure to indicate a political party preference, and check the appropriate box to receive their ballot electronically. They can then log on to a secure website, print and vote their ballot, and then mail it back to their county election office. Further, military and overseas voters may receive access to absentee ballots for an entire year’s election cycle, removing the need to submit multiple ballot requests.

The Secretary of State’s Elections Division website also features a “Military and Overseas Voters” page that includes:

•Who qualifies as a military or overseas voter, and how to request and return an absentee ballot;
•Downloadable absentee ballot request forms;
•Contact information for your county election office; and
•Important links to state and federal voting information.

Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January, 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders. The office also oversees the Georgia Archives.
